Future Skills: How Do We Prepare for a Changing World of Work? A Vision Aligned with the “Be Ready” Initiative

The global job market is undergoing rapid, profound change driven by automation, digitization, and technological advances. According to the Future Skills report from Santander Bank, more than 85 million jobs worldwide may disappear by 2025, while 97 million new roles will emerge requiring entirely new skills.

The report notes that 50% of employees will need reskilling and upskilling in this period. The most in-demand skills will include analytical thinking, complex problem-solving, creativity, continuous learning, emotional intelligence, and digital skills.

It also highlights the need for companies to adopt a lifelong learning model to ensure their employees can adapt to evolving demands. This isn’t just about technical skills—personal or “soft” skills like collaboration, flexibility, and leadership will also grow in importance.

This global vision aligns closely with the goals of the “Be Ready” initiative, which aims to prepare one million Egyptian university students and graduates with the skills required for future jobs. Through University Career Development Centers, we focus on:

  • Developing analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strengthening digital and technical skills
  • Building personal skills like collaboration and adaptability
  • Promoting continuous learning and readiness for change

We also work to build strong partnerships with the private sector to ensure our training aligns with real labor market needs. We believe investing in these skills is not optional but essential for building an innovative, resilient generation capable of driving development and achieving Egypt’s Vision 2030.
